Hunting

There are lots of opportunities with each season.

Snowmobiling

You can take the opportunity to have guided tours with full equipment
rentals or explore on your own.  "Snowmobile play parks" are recent
additions to the area.  Snowmobiling is available at high altitudes until
the end of April.


Columbia Lake

This beautiful lake boasts many activities.  For the avid fisherman there
are over 15 types of fish to catch.  As the size of the lake is so large,
there is room for many boats without feeling crowded.  It is perfect for
water skiing, tubing, knee boarding, wind surfing, canoeing and general site
seeing.  Take a canoe or tube to the north end and float down through the
headwaters of the mighty Columbia River.  There is an abundance of waterfowl
and wildlife to enjoy on this scenic short trip.  Rafting tours can be used
if you do not own your own watercraft.
In the winter, skate down to Canal Flats for lunch!  Ice sailing is the
newest sport on the lake.  Oftentimes, fish can be seen swimming under the
clear, smooth ice!


Hot Springs

The world famous Fairmont Hot Springs are located just 5 minutes drive from
our doorstep.  Spend the day alternating between the hot and cool pools,
shopping for a bathing suit in the nearby store that boasts Canada's largest
bathing suit selection.

Radium Hot Springs is a short half-hour drive to the North at the south

gate to the Kootenay National Park.

Explore the many natural hot springs in the area.  Lussier  Springs in the
Whiteswan Lake Provincial Park is a must see and only a 30 minute drive from
The Timbers.


Shopping

Fairmont has a new strip mall.  There is an excellent grocery store with a
fine deli and bakery in it.  There is also a liquor outlet and post office
located in the store.  Other amenities in the mall include video store, hair
and tanning salon, gift shops, coffee shop, realty offices and more.
Invermere also has many shops to explore and being our larger centre, you
will find health services, banking, drug stores and all of you other
personal and business needs.  Invermere is a 20-minute drive from The
Timbers.  Invermere has a very active cultural community that may be enjoyed
by all.
Kimberly offers a unique shopping experience as it is the Bavarian capital
of Canada and the original town site has used this theme throughout its
downtown area.  The "Platzel" is blocked off and you can stroll safely back
and forth across the street, hunting for just the right souvenir to take
home with you.
